Labor Compliance Coordinator
A well-established multifamily owner/developer is seeking a Labor Compliance Coordinator with California experience to support multiple active projects and ensure full compliance with prevailing wage, certified payroll, and project-specific labor requirements. This individual will play a key role in maintaining audit-ready files, processing payroll, managing certified payroll reporting, and driving corrective action when compliance issues arise.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee labor compliance for assigned projects, including initial, ongoing, and final compliance reviews
- Review subcontractor submissions for compliance with prevailing wage laws, certified payroll requirements, and contract obligations
- Identify deficiencies, document findings, and issue follow-up requests to drive corrective action
- Perform recurring compliance reviews on active and previously audited projects until full compliance is achieved
- Monitor high-risk issues and escalate concerns based on regulatory exposure and project impact
- Ensure projects are compliant prior to final payroll approval and closeout
- Process weekly payroll for laborers in coordination with superintendents and project teams
- Collect, verify, and reconcile labor hours for payroll processing
- Prepare, review, and submit certified payroll reports in accordance with agency requirements
- Maintain complete supporting payroll documentation for internal review and external audit purposes
- Track labor hours and maintain accurate records for CAC reporting
- Manage compliance-related communication, including deficiency notices, corrective action requests, and follow-up correspondence
- Coordinate with project management and internal leadership to resolve payroll and compliance issues
- Maintain organized, accurate, and audit-ready compliance and payroll files
- Provide regular updates on compliance and payroll status and help prioritize work based on deadlines and risk exposure
Qualifications
- Experience in prevailing wage compliance, certified payroll, labor compliance, or construction payroll administration required
- Strong knowledge of federal, California, and local prevailing wage regulations
- Proven experience processing payroll and preparing certified payroll reports
- High attention to detail with strong documentation and file management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and strict regulatory deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to issue clear and professional compliance-related correspondence
- Proficiency with payroll systems, compliance tracking platforms, and document management tools
