Job Description

Position Summary:

NRECA's Field Services team works directly with electric cooperative leaders, benefits administrators, and employees to ensure meaningful engagement with industry-leading employee benefit programs. As a Field Service Representative, you serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for member cooperatives, providing consultative guidance on retirement, health, and welfare benefits. This role partners with co-op HR and leadership teams to support benefit plan participation, design strategy, and overall total rewards objectives.

Through education, collaboration, and relationship building, the position helps strengthen workforce outcomes and long-term member satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary field liaison for assigned territory, , MT, NV, and WY (approximately 65 cooperatives, and 3,500 employees), building trusted relationships with co-op leadership, HR, and employees.
    Must reside in any of the assigned territories.

  • Educate and advise cooperative management and employees on the features, benefits, and value of NRECA's retirement, health, and welfare benefit programs.

  • Conduct regular on-site and virtual co-op visits, including at least one in-person visit per co-op annually, to support engagement, plan participation, and alignment with co-op objectives.

  • Deliver professional presentations to boards, management teams, employees, and industry groups to communicate complex benefit concepts clearly and effectively.

  • Consult with co-op HR and leadership on benefit plan design considerations, participation strategies, and workforce total rewards objectives.

  • Collaborate with internal compliance, underwriting, actuarial, and implementation teams to support plan changes, non-standard requests, renewals, and new business initiatives.

  • Support individual employees by reviewing retirement options and facilitating referrals to Personal Investment and Retirement Consulting (PIRC) as appropriate.

Required

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in group employee benefits, retirement programs, financial services, or a related field.

  • Bachelor's degree - Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Strong consultative and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build credibility with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, including the ability to translate complex benefit concepts into clear, actionable information.

  • Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and delivering services across a large, multi-state geographic territory.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a highly autonomous, field-based role.

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively within assigned territory (approximately 80% travel).

  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Life and Health Insurance License (or obtain post-hire).

  • Professional designations such as CLU, ChFC, CFP, CFA, CEBS, or similar credentials in employee benefits or financial services.

Physical Requirements:
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.

  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

Salary Range:

$106,000 - $143,000 annual salary

Final compensation determined by individual qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
