Role Overview
This role provides hands-on administrative and technical logistics support for IT operations, with primary responsibility for equipment receiving, shipping, inventory organization, and asset retirement coordination. The position requires accuracy, physical handling of equipment, and adherence to documented processes.
Core Responsibilities- Equipment Receiving & Verification
- Receive incoming Fed Ex equipment shipments.
- Unpack all delivered materials and compare contents against purchase orders or shipment documentation.
- Validate accuracy and completeness of received equipment.
- Report discrepancies or damaged items to the appropriate IT contact.
- Inventory Stocking & Workspace Management
- Stock received equipment in designated storage locations following established inventory practices.
- Maintain orderly, labeled, and accessible storage areas.
- Break down shipping cartons and packing materials.
- Dispose of materials via recycling or dumpster according to facility guidelines.
- Outbound Equipment Preparation & Shipping
- Prepare equipment for outbound shipment, ensuring proper packaging and protection.
- Generate Fed Ex shipping labels and tracking numbers.
- Ship equipment on scheduled or requested shipping dates.
- Document shipment details in Zen Desk tickets when applicable, including ship date and tracking information.
- Ticketing & Documentation Support
- Update Zen Desk requestor tickets with shipping confirmations and tracking numbers.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and entered in a timely manner.
- Follow standard operating procedures for all ticket-related updates.
- Asset Retirement & Disposal Coordination
- Organize and maintain the asset retirement area.
- Identify devices designated for retirement or destruction.
- Coordinate with approved vendors to schedule device pickup for certified destruction.
- Ensure retired assets are staged and prepared according to security and disposal requirements.
- Prior experience in an IT support, technical assistant, or operations role.
- Familiarity with IT asset handling, inventory management, or equipment lifecycle processes.
- Experience using a ticketing system such as Zen Desk or similar platforms.
- Exposure to shipping and logistics processes (Fed Ex, UPS, or similar carriers).
- Understanding of basic IT security and asset disposal best practices.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear written communication skills for documentation and ticket updates.
- Professional demeanor and respect for confidential information.
- Willingness to learn and grow within an IT environment.
- An IT student seeking real-world, hands-on experience.
- A technically savvy individual transitioning into IT operations or support.
- Comfortable with physical, task-oriented work as well as light administrative duties.
- Interested in gaining exposure to enterprise IT processes and asset management.

Wage: $25.00 per hour
Type: Part-Time - 12 hours a week
Time-frame: 3 months (may extend)
