Externship Experience at NVA Hospital
An externship experience at an NVA hospital gives veterinary students unique exposure to the day-to‑day operations of a veterinary practice and hands‑on clinical experience. Students work closely with a supervising veterinarian to gather patient histories, perform physical exams, create treatment plans, conduct diagnostics, provide dentistry services, observe and assist or perform surgical procedures, and manage the medical care of patients. The externship also offers opportunities to hone communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Responsibilities- Gather patient histories and conduct physical examinations.

- Manage medical care of patients and maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with the medical team, support staff, and clients to provide excellent service.
Externships at Eagle Animal Clinic are offered to veterinary students in their final year whose education is in the clinical portion. Eligible students receive a travel/living expense stipend. Externships typically last between two and eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules.
