Winter Nordic Groomer Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area — Boise National Forest,  | Seasonal (Mid-October through Mid-May)

The Winter Nordic Groomer is responsible for the safe execution of grooming and other trail maintenance on the Nordic Trails at Bogus Basin.

How You’ll Make a Difference:

As a Winter Nordic Groomer, you will ensure that the Nordic trails are safe, well-maintained, and groomed for optimal conditions. You will operate grooming equipment, maintain machinery, communicate trail conditions to staff, and support trail operations for the safety and enjoyment of all guests.

A Day in the Life:

Start your day by inspecting equipment and reviewing grooming priorities. Throughout the shift, you’ll operate snowcats and snowmobiles to groom trails, maintain and report on equipment, communicate trail conditions, and assist with mountain operations. By day’s end, you’ll leave knowing you helped provide high‑quality Nordic trails for all visitors.

Essential Functions of the Job
  • Groom Nordic Trails with an emphasis on quality and safety.
  • Maintain equipment and communicate equipment conditions to appropriate staff.
  • Report conditions daily to Nordic Center staff, update conditions board, and provide details about trails.
  • Work with mechanics for repairs and maintenance issues.
  • Follow procedures recommended for operating equipment and service schedules.
  • Promote safety by following safe practices and reporting any unsafe conditions.
Non-Essential Functions of the Job
  • Maintain a professional attitude toward guests and staff.
  • Assist in mountain rescue efforts, if necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

What You Bring to Bogus Basin
  • Passionate about Bogus Basin’s mission.
  • Heavy equipment operation experience; snowcat and snowmobile grooming experience preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and a variety of hours to groom for the best product possible.
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds above shoulder level.
  • Frequently required to stand, balance, walk, climb, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must provide sufficient clothing for warmth in winter conditions, gloves in good repair, and pac boots in good repair.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
Working Conditions
  • Indoor and outdoor environment; majority of time spent outdoors.
  • Outdoor environment; exposed to inclement weather and adverse conditions.
  • May be exposed to smoke, dust, fumes, and odors.
  • Vibration and noise are present in the work environment.
