Hours: 42.5 hours per week (8:00–17:00, Monday–Friday)
Location: Ealing
Salary: up to £38,800 per annum

Serving over 23,500 homes, we complete more than 38,000 repairs, 1,000 void refurbishments, and install 600 kitchens and bathrooms each year. This role offers the opportunity to be a key member of the senior management team, driving the successful delivery of our planning and customer service functions at the heart of our operations.
Role title: Carpenter
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality carpentry repairs and maintenance in occupied social housing properties, helping ensure residents’ homes are safe, functional, and well maintained. You’ll respond to a variety of day-to-day repair requests, including tasks such as replacing internal doors, repairing skirting boards and architraves, fitting kitchen units, and completing general finishing works. You will need to work efficiently, solve problems on-site, and provide excellent customer service.

We’re looking for someone experienced in domestic carpentry, confident working in occupied homes, and committed to getting the job done right the first time.
Responsibilities- Carry out day-to-day carpentry repairs in occupied properties as part of a responsive maintenance service
- Replace and repair internal doors, frames, handles, locks, and hinges
- Fit and adjust kitchen units, worktops, cupboard doors, and pelmets
- Install or replace skirting boards, architraves, and other decorative joinery
- Repair or replace timber flooring, stair components, and handrails where required
- Make good following repairs, including basic patch plastering or tiling as needed
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety regulations
- Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
- Work professionally and respectfully in residents’ homes, maintaining a clean and safe working environment
- Identify and report any additional works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues beyond the scope of the job
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures at all times
- Provide high levels of customer care
- Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance in a carpentry position
- Experience in the duties listed
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
- Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work
- Willingness to participate in out-of-hours emergency rota

Additional information
- All roles require entitlement to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered
- To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be over 21, have held a licence for more than 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points
