Broad Functions/Responsibility and Authority

Under general supervision, serves as the primary point of contact for visitors to the district building housing Technology Services, Special Services, and Transportation Services. Creates a friendly, welcoming, and professional atmosphere for new employees, families, district staff, professional learning participants, vendors, and community members. Performs receptionist, customer service, clerical, and building-support duties to help maintain safe, effective, and efficient daily operations.

Reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Technology Services.

Specific Duties

Areas of Primary Responsibility

  • Greets all visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and professional manner providing a positive first impression of the School District of Pickens County for visitors.
  • Determines the purpose of each visit and directs visitors to the appropriate department, employee, meeting, training session, or service area.
  • Responds to inquiries and concerns from employees, families, vendors, and the general public. Records accurate messages. Refers questions or concerns requiring specialized assistance to the appropriate department or staff member.
  • Maintains awareness of scheduled meetings, professional development sessions, orientations, and other building activities in order to provide accurate assistance to visitors. Assists with preparations for employee orientations, professional development sessions, meetings, and special events.
  • Creates and issues access badges for district employees in accordance with district procedures. Maintains accurate badge records and protects access credentials and related information.
  • Processes student device charger replacements according to district procedures and maintains accurate records of charger replacement transactions.
  • Performs general clerical and secretarial functions, including but not limited to, copying, scanning and filing documents; organizing materials; processing forms; maintaining records, and preparing basic reports; and processing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment, including a computer, telephone, printer, copier, scanner, label or badge printer, calculator, and related equipment.
  • Accepts, records as needed, and distributes deliveries from UPS, Fed Ex, couriers, vendors, and other delivery services.
  • Monitors and maintains an organized, professional, and welcoming reception area. Stocks and maintains shared building supplies. Communicates purchasing or restocking needs to appropriate staff.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals, including supervisors, district administrators and staff, school employees, new employees, students, families, vendors, delivery personnel, service providers, community partners, and the general public.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by department directors, Assistant Superintendent for Technology Services or Superintendent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & STANDARDS

Qualifications

Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. One to three years of receptionist, customer service, clerical, school office or related experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

  • Patience and sensitivity when assisting families, new employees, vendors, and other visitors who may have questions or need additional assistance.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees across AITS, Special Services,
  • Transportation, and other district departments.
  • Dependability, punctuality, initiative, and the ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn the following:
    • Personal computers
    • Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
    • Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Calendars
    • Employee access badge platform
    • Copier, scanner, printer, and standard office equipment
