POSITION SUMMARY
Position: CAD Designer
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Location: Greenville, SC
The CAD Designer will support engineering and production teams by creating detailed 2D and 3D drawings that meet project specifications and industry standards. This role is responsible for translating design concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate technical documentation, while ensuring consistency, quality, and timely delivery in a fast‑paced environment.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY- Generate detailed 2D and 3D models and technical drawings using AutoCAD and other CAD software.
- Analyze design sketches, specifications, and engineering input to develop accurate and manufacturable drawings.
- Maintain and organize drawing files, revisions, and project documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Partner with engineers, architects, and cross‑functional teams to incorporate design updates and resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate with other drafters and team members to ensure consistency and standardization across all drawings.
- Conduct quality checks to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
- Ensure all drawings adhere to engineering practices, company standards, and industry codes.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities, ensuring timely completion of drawings and documentation.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by updating drafting processes, templates, and best practices.
- Stay current with CAD software advancements and industry trends to improve design efficiency and quality.
- Extensive working knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, with experience in 2D and 3D modeling.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, design sketches, and engineering specifications.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and precision in all design documentation.
- Solid understanding of engineering principles, drafting standards, and industry practices.
- Advanced mathematical skills to support accurate measurements and calculations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with engineers, architects, and team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Diploma or degree in Drafting, Engineering, or a related field required.
- 3+ years of experience as a CAD Designer or AutoCAD Drafter in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required; experience with Solid Works, Revit, or similar software preferred.
- Strong understanding of drafting standards, symbols, and technical documentation practices.
- Knowledge of construction and manufacturing processes and global design considerations.
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and compliance standards preferred.
- Certification in AutoCAD drafting or related field is a plus.
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) concepts is a plus.
This role operates primarily in an office setting, with occasional interaction with engineering and manufacturing teams. The CAD Designer will collaborate closely with cross‑functional groups to ensure designs align with production capabilities and project requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis position requires extended periods of sitting and working on a computer. Occasional movement throughout office or production areas may be required. Must be able to focus for long periods and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
