Position Summary
Daedalus Industrial is seeking skilled Panel Builder Technicians to join our shop-floor team. In this role, you will build industrial control panels from bare enclosure to finished, tested assembly - working from engineering drawings and bills of materials to produce high-quality, code-compliant panels for our automation and controls customers. You will own every phase of the build process and are expected to work with a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts (EPLAN or equivalent)
- Lay out and mount enclosures, back plates, DIN rails, cable trays, and sub-panels
- Install and wire PLCs, I/O modules, drives (VFDs), HMIs, relays, contractors, and terminal blocks
- Perform point-to-point wiring from schematics; label all conductors per drawing standards
- Size, cut, strip, crimp, ferrule, and terminate conductors per specification
- Install power distribution components including breakers, fuses, disconnects, and bus bars
- Perform control power wiring for 24
VDC and 120
VAC circuits - Identify and correct wiring errors; document redlines on drawings for engineering review
- Maintain a clean, organized build area and follow all shop safety practices
- Meet production schedules and communicate proactively on any build issues or material shortages
- 2+ years of industrial panel building or electrical assembly experience
- Proficiency reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Hands-on experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
- Competence with hand tools, power tools, and wire processing equipment
- Working knowledge of NEC and UL 508A panel wiring standards
- Ability to wire from 10 AWG down to 22 AWG control wire
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship standards
- Ability to work independently and manage time across concurrent panel builds
- Familiarity with Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley product lines (1756, 1769, Power Flex)
- UL 508A panel shop experience
- Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent trade certification
- Prior experience with field installation or panel commissioning support
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in varied body positions (bending, crouching). Must be able to perform fine motor tasks such as wire termination for full shift durations. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
