DPR Construction is seeking an Interiors Estimator with at least three years of commercial construction experience. The role focuses on internship projects across our core markets: healthcare, advanced technology, higher education, life sciences, and corporate office.
Responsibilities- Handle the project from first estimate through contract formalization.
- Probe beyond the information given, ask the right questions, and provide a complete interior cost evaluation and approach.
- Provide innovative solutions to complex issues related to cost, lead‑times, trade partners, and specified products or materials.
- Make reliable cost predictions and estimate across all aspects of interior construction.
- Prepare detailed conceptual interior cost estimates and conceptual cost studies from schematic or feasibility documentation.
- Develop variance summaries between estimates and value‑engineering studies as the design evolves.
- Assemble and present a complete, presentation‑worthy estimate package that clearly communicates the interior estimate to any audience.
- Collaborate with the entire project team to establish necessary staffing and project requirements.
- Apply knowledge of unit costs and factors that affect construction cost.
- Prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade‑specific clarifications, and comprehensive bid packages for sub‑tiers.
- Manage the bidding process: solicit bids, communicate with bidders, evaluate subcontractor proposals, and use bid tally sheets.
- Work closely with the Operations Team (superintendents, foremen, project managers, etc.) to refine interior estimates and align with project approach, schedule, and logistics.
- Make subcontractor award recommendations and negotiate the finalization of subcontracts with trade partners.
- Participate as a member of the team involved in request‑for‑proposal responses and formal project presentations.
- Engage and develop business with new and existing customers.
- Lead and facilitate value‑engineering sessions with the project team and design team.
- Review construction contracts to identify key risks that could affect the interior estimate.
- Lead, manage, and motivate project teams during the preconstruction phase of a project.
- Flexible, detail‑oriented team player who can manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent listening and strong communication skills.
- Creative and innovative approaches and solutions on a project‑by‑project basis.
- Ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues.
- Effective participation in a team environment, with both external and internal teammates.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating software (Win Est or similar), take‑off software (On‑Screen Takeoff or similar), BIM tools (Revit, Assemble, etc.), project management software (CMiC or similar), and scheduling software (Primavera or similar).
- Three to five years of experience as a commercial construction estimator, preferably within DPR’s core markets.
- Bachelor’s degree a plus but not required.
- A strong work ethic and a “can‑do” attitude.
