Family Office Operations Manager (Accounting Focus)

Our client is seeking a Family Office Operations Manager (Accounting Focus) to support the financial operations of their family office across multiple entities. This is a hands‑on leadership role for a seasoned accounting professional who can balance detailed execution with team oversight and stakeholder communication.

The ideal candidate is a working manager within a single‑family office environment who brings strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to operate confidently in a high‑expectation, high‑discretion setting. This role serves as a key liaison between the Director of Family Office, junior accounting staff, and external advisors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and execute accounting operations across multiple family office entities
  • Prepare, review, and manage monthly close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Develop, review, and maintain comprehensive working paper packages with a deep understanding of underlying financial activity
  • Prepare financial summaries, analyses, and presentation materials for leadership and family stakeholders
  • Manage cash flow, banking activity, and liquidity planning across entities
  • Coordinate with external accountants, tax advisors, and legal partners
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to internal controls and best practices
  • Lead, coach, and review the work of two direct reports, providing ongoing development and guidance
  • Serve as a day‑to‑day problem solver and escalation point for accounting and operational matters
  • Partner closely with the Director of Family Office on ad hoc initiatives and evolving priorities
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required;
Master’s degree and/or CPA strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years within a complex, multi‑entity family office
  • Working knowledge of public financial markets and alternative investments, including private equity, hedge funds, venture capital, and other alternative structures
  • Prior people management experience with a passion for mentoring and developing junior professionals
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and organization
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership, external partners, and internal staff
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast‑paced, high‑expectation environment with professionalism and discretion
  • Comfortable serving as a working manager, balancing hands‑on execution with leadership responsibilities
  • High integrity, sound judgment, and experience handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights for non‑financial stakeholders
