JOB PURPOSEThe Vice President, Accounting will serve as a strategic financial leader, overseeing all accounting operations and reporting for Christian Dior Couture's North American entities. This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic foresight, technical accounting expertise, and the ability to drive efficiency and compliance across the organization. The VP will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely delivery of financial information, while providing critical insights to senior leadership.
This position requires considerable accuracy, urgency, concise and timely communication, independent judgment, strong organizational acumen, and sophisticated analytical thought.
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight to a team of 7-8 accounting professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor, develop, and evaluate team members, ensuring optimal performance, professional growth, and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Strategically manage the relationship and workflow with the Shared Service Center (SSC) for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, optimizing processes and resolving complex issues.
- Champion the development and implementation of advanced systems, procedures, and best practices within the accounting function to support Christian Dior Couture's strategic growth.
- Direct and oversee the end-to-end monthly financial close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to corporate standards for both Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss statements across all legal entities (US & Canada).
- Ensure rigorous monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts for both US and Canadian entities, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Oversee the accuracy and integrity of fixed asset management, including valuation, correct coding, flow analysis, reconciliation, and depreciation calculations.
- Lead and ensure meticulous intercompany reconciliations, driving immediate and thorough investigation and resolution of any discrepancies.
- Guarantee the accuracy of stock reconciliations on a monthly basis, collaborating with relevant departments to address inventory variances.
- Oversee the meticulous accuracy of all accruals, reversals, prepaid accounts, and rebills.
- Supervise and reconcile monthly payroll, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Oversee all banking activities, including comprehensive bank reconciliations, interest payments, and loan management.
- Develop and implement robust cash flow analysis and forecasting methodologies to support strategic financial planning.
- Manage all external tax advisors, ensuring optimal relationships and effective communication.
- Lead the management of all tax-related matters, including income tax returns, sales & use tax compliance, and comprehensive oversight of state and federal audits.
- Direct and manage transfer pricing audits and external financial audits, ensuring seamless coordination and successful outcomes.
- Ensure the consistent implementation and adherence to Group internal control procedures across all accounting operations, mitigating financial risks.
- Act as a key liaison with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations to ensure successful audit conclusions.
- Provide financial expertise and support for special projects and initiatives as assigned by the SVP, Finance, contributing to strategic decision-making.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, cost efficiencies, and enhanced financial controls.
- Minimum 15 years of progressive accounting experience, with a significant portion in a leadership or management capacity within a complex organizational structure.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-entity and international accounting operations, preferably across US and Canadian legal structures.
- Proven expertise in ERP systems; experience with Microsoft AX is a significant advantage.
- Prior experience in the luxury retail, fashion, or beauty industries is highly preferred, demonstrating an understanding of industry-specific financial nuances.
- Exceptional leadership and team development skills, with a proven ability to inspire, motivate, and manage high-performing accounting teams.
