Overview
RN tutors will work with students in both the ASN and PN programs for a three‑year engagement, supporting nursing coursework and improving NCLEX‑RN and NCLEX‑PN pass rates. The role requires sensitivity to diverse academic, socio‑economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
Responsibilities- Provide individual and group tutoring for PN and ASN students and graduates, including NCLEX preparation.
- Conduct tutoring sessions through walk‑in or scheduled appointments, either in person or virtual.
- Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students’ diverse cultures, language skills, abilities, and experiences.
- Deliver subject‑specific content, clarify course material, and use listening and questioning strategies to diagnose student needs and monitor progress.
- Recognize and adapt to different learning styles and preferences, and support students in developing effective research and study strategies.
- Use feedback and reflection to continually improve tutoring practice.
- Maintain and submit weekly reports of services provided.
- Report student progress information to the Nursing Dean or designee.
$17–20 per hour.
Qualifications- Associate degree in Nursing.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to under‑resourced and disadvantaged populations.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Commitment to working Monday‑Friday, 9AM‑6PM during campus hours.
- Official academic transcripts submitted at time of hire.
Preferred qualifications:
- RN licensure.
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience.
