PT Registered Nursing Tutor

Overview

RN tutors will work with students in both the ASN and PN programs for a three‑year engagement, supporting nursing coursework and improving NCLEX‑RN and NCLEX‑PN pass rates. The role requires sensitivity to diverse academic, socio‑economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

• Provide individual and group tutoring for PN and ASN students and graduates, including NCLEX preparation.
• Conduct tutoring sessions through walk‑in or scheduled appointments, either in person or virtual.
• Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students’ diverse cultures, language skills, abilities, and experiences.
• Deliver subject‑specific content, clarify course material, and use listening and questioning strategies to diagnose student needs and monitor progress.
• Recognize and adapt to different learning styles and preferences, and support students in developing effective research and study strategies.
• Use feedback and reflection to continually improve tutoring practice.
• Maintain and submit weekly reports of services provided.
• Report student progress information to the Nursing Dean or designee.

$17–20 per hour.

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to under‑resourced and disadvantaged populations.
• Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
• Commitment to working Monday‑Friday, 9AM‑6PM during campus hours.
• Official academic transcripts submitted at time of hire.

Preferred qualifications:

• RN licensure.
• Prior tutoring or teaching experience.
