POSITION SUMMARYThe primary purpose of the Assistant Store Manager is to assist the Store Manager in upholding the daily store operations of a retail store, ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandising execution, managing expenses and inventory, training and development of the store team, human resources management, and outstanding customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Responsible for overall quality and performance of the retail store staff.
- Ensures compliance of all company policies and procedures.
- Models effective leadership to gain commitment to store goals and training standards.
- Assists with the recruitment, selection and training and development of store personnel.
- Provides feedback to the Store Manager on annual performance evaluations for all store employees.
- Assists with expense management and develops strategies that position stores to perform in accordance with the budget.
- Monitors and identifies issues related to shrinkage to keep shrink goals at or below the company plan.
- Monitors and controls all aspects of operational compliance, safety and business standards.
- Supports the training of all employees in suggested selling and merchandising techniques.
- Ensures company customer service standards are upheld, providing a friendly environment for each customer.
- Assists in the completion of accurate and regular merchandise inventory counts.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
- Minimum of one (1) year in retail management.
- Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of the English language to communicate with management, associates and customers.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to think strategically, plan and organize effectively.
- Exemplary professionalism in all situations.
- Proficient analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports, solve administrative problems and prioritize work.
- Results‑driven with critical and creative thinking skills.
- Project management, time management, analytical and superior organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality and exercise independent judgment.
- Proven ability to plan, organize, multi‑task and set priorities effectively to respond to changing demands.
- Ability to execute directives with precision and consistency.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Willingness to work in multiple stores within the assigned district.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must work extended hours during critical project phases and in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel by car, plane or train.
Assistant Manager pay range: $21.40 – $23.40 per hour. Bonus opportunity if guidelines or criteria are met.
Full‑time roles are eligible for medical, dental, vision, sick leave, parental leave and company‑paid time off. All roles are eligible for the company 401(k) plan.
