Job Description & How to Apply Below
Barnes Aerospace has a challenging and rewarding career opportunity for a Planning Manager at the East Granby – Bradley Park Site, responsible for developing and managing the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to ensure customer demand is met while optimizing inventory, capacity, and on‑time delivery. This role translates sales forecasts, backlog, and inventory targets into a feasible production plan that balances demand with supply constraints across manufacturing operations.
The Planning Manager serves as the central integrator between Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance, ensuring production plans align with business objectives, capacity limits, and material availability.
- Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for all product families.
- Convert customer demand, forecasts, and backlog into executable production plans.
- Ensure schedules are capacity‑feasible and aligned with labor, machine, and material constraints.
- Maintain rolling planning horizons (typically 12–26 weeks).
- Balance forecast demand, customer orders, and inventory targets.
- Coordinate with sales and demand planning to understand changes in demand.
- Adjust schedules to respond to demand variability, expedites, or shortages.
- Evaluate rough‑cut capacity planning (RCCP) to ensure production plans are achievable.
- Identify capacity constraints and propose solutions (overtime, outsourcing, schedule shifts).
- Work with operations leadership to level load production.
- Partner with procurement and planning teams to ensure material availability supports the production schedule.
- Monitor shortages and adjust production plans accordingly.
- Drive improvements in planning processes using Lean and Sales & Operations Planning (SOP) principles.
- Improve schedule stability and reduce schedule volatility.
- Lead initiatives to improve forecast accuracy and inventory optimization.
- 7+ years of production planning or scheduling experience in manufacturing.
- Experience managing complex multi‑product production schedules.
- Aerospace, industrial, or regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
- Advanced ERP/MRP planning experience (examples):
- Strong Excel and data analysis capability
- APICS certification (CPIM and/or CSCP) is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management or related field
