Why This Role ExistsThis role exists to support aerospace manufacturing and repair (MRO) programs by developing and maintaining CNC programs for complex components. At Barnes Aerospace, this position plays a key role in supporting production, improving machining processes, and driving efficiency across both new product introduction (NPI) and established programs.
The Work You’ll Be Doing- Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for turning, VTL, and multi-axis milling operations
- Lead programming efforts in collaboration with Repair Development Engineers, Process Engineers, and machining leads
- Provide direct shop-floor support, making real-time program adjustments to resolve production issues
- Support NPI (New Product Introduction) by developing and validating new CNC programs
- Collaborate on fixture and work holding development to improve process reliability
- Work with engineering teams to develop and validate CAD models for machining operations
- Create and maintain shop documentation including tool sheets, setup sheets, routers, and operation sheets
- Ensure compliance with aerospace repair technical data (engine manuals, service bulletins, OEM‑approved documentation)
- Support continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives
You’ll work with and support:
- Machines: CNC mills (3, 4, 5-axis), CNC lathes, VTLs
- Controls: Fanuc
- CAM Software: NX CAM (preferred), other CAM systems as applicable
- Programming: CAM‑driven with manual edits at the machine
- Documentation: Tool sheets, setup sheets, routers, inspection forms
- Nickel‑based alloys
- Titanium
- Cobalt alloys
- Stainless Steel
- Aerospace‑grade materials
- 5+ years of CNC programming experience (turning and/or multi-axis milling)
- Experience programming for lathe, VTL, and 3/4/5‑axis milling operations
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and cutting strategies
- Experience with CAM software (NX preferred) and manual programming
- Ability to perform setups, troubleshoot programs, and support production directly
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation
- Experience working with aerospace materials such as nickel and titanium alloys
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Experience in aerospace MRO environments
- Familiarity with repair technical documentation (engine manuals, service bulletins, OEM data)
- Experience developing fixtures and work holding solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
Full‑Time Pay Range: $90,000 – $110,000/year (DOE)
Contract Pay: $65/hour (DOE)
Per Diem (Contract): $150/day (7 days per week)
