Financial Coordinator at Rhode Island Children's Dentistry & Orthodontics

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and patient-focused Financial Coordinator to join our team. The Financial Coordinator plays an important role in helping patients and families understand their financial responsibilities while supporting accurate and efficient front office operations. The ideal candidate is confident communicating about financial matters, comfortable working with insurance, and committed to providing a positive and professional patient experience.

What You'll Do

As a Financial Coordinator, you will support the financial and administrative operations of the practice while serving as a resource for patients and families. You will work closely with the front office and clinical teams to ensure accurate insurance information, clear financial communication, and an efficient patient experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

Review and verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility

Obtain and document accurate insurance and patient financial information

Review treatment plans and explain estimated patient financial responsibilities

Communicate treatment costs, payment options, and available financing options to patients and families

Collect copayments, deductibles, balances, and other patient payments

Process payments accurately and maintain appropriate documentation

Assist with insurance claims, pre-authorizations, and follow-up as needed

Monitor outstanding patient balances and assist with collection efforts

Work with insurance companies to resolve claim issues and obtain necessary information

Maintain accurate patient financial records in accordance with office policies and procedures

Answer patient questions regarding insurance coverage, billing, statements, and account balances

Coordinate with the clinical team to ensure treatment plans and financial information are accurately communicated

Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA and other applicable privacy requirements

Support scheduling, check-in, check-out, and other front office responsibilities as needed

Maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming front office environment

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in dental, medical, or healthcare financial coordination preferred

Experience with dental insurance and benefits verification preferred

Knowledge of dental terminology, insurance claims, and patient billing processes

Strong customer service and communication skills

Comfortable discussing financial responsibilities and payment options with patients

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Excellent organizational and time-management skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Experience with dental practice management software preferred

Professional, dependable, and team-oriented approach
