Position Title:Behavior Technician (school year position)
Program: Polaris Center
Under the supervision of the Principal and the Assistant Principal, the Behavior Technician manages and intervenes with students who are demonstrating unacceptable behavior within the school setting. Promotes a positive learning environment for all students. Maintains database and generates regular reports on behavioral interventions and outcomes.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSkills and Abilities
High school diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred.
Requires knowledge of and experience using effective behavior intervention and management strategies with significantly emotionally disturbed adolescents. Must have ability to perform duties in a calm non-threatening manner, with a diverse population of clients and fellow workers.
Incentives may be offered to employees who obtain and maintain a CT DMV public service license once employed. Other job-related certifications required include Safety Care Training and CPR/First Aid.
Working ConditionsRequires large amount of walking to monitor students. Occasionally requires rigorous physical effort to deal with/escort/utilize protective holds with aggressive emotionally disturbed students (up to 200lbs), according to approved techniques.
