Job Description

The Composites Fellow works with all levels of P&W management to lead creation and execution of a strategic plan for development and application of composites within Pratt & Whitney’s products, and will consult with P&W’s strategic sourcing organization to help assess capabilities and make recommendations regarding supplier sourcing strategies. The Composites Fellow applies his/her deep and broad technical understanding, competency and skill toward organizing teams and leading resolution of technical challenges of exceptional difficulty and importance to Pratt & Whitney and its suppliers.

Composite Fellow must be able communicate at all levels within Pratt & Whitney, UTC, external supply-chain and technical community. The Composites Fellow is expected to spend a significant amount of his/her time applying their deep expertise addressing technical challenges, teaching and mentoring discipline talent, and supporting composites Discipline Chief and Subject Matter Experts in the validation and continual improvement of discipline specific processes and standard work.

Qualifications

1. MS or PhD in Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related degree is required. PhD is preferred.

2. A minimum of 15 years related experience with demonstrated leadership in technical problem resolution associated with composite manufacturing processes, and the development, characterization, and application of composite materials.

3. Experience in the development and application of composite materials for aerospace applications is preferred.

4. Ability to obtain a US government security clearance is required.

5. Excellent organizational, planning, prioritization and presentation skills are required.
