Manufacturing Engineer, Systems Engineer, Automation & Mechatronics Engineer
As the Manager of the Model‑Based Capabilities Development team, you will play a critical role in driving the technologies, digital workflows, and data continuity that enable our Connected Production Environment.
This position develops and deploys enterprise model‑based capabilities across design, engineering, and operations—accelerating product introduction, improving manufacturing readiness, and strengthening our digital thread from design inception to production up to delivery of the engine.
Responsibilities- Develop and manage the multi‑year roadmap for model‑based engineering and digital manufacturing capabilities supporting P&W’s Connected Production Environment.
- Lead Agile Program Increment (PI) planning, feature definition, user story creation, backlog management, and cross‑functional execution.
- Deliver integrated digital capabilities across CAD, PLM, CAM, CAI, simulation, work instructions, and key integrations with MES/ERP.
- Lead PLM‑enabled process engineering, including digital routings, tooling, staged models, process plans, and inspection planning.
- Ensure digital continuity across engineering, manufacturing, and operations by enabling authoritative model‑based data flow (PMI, GDT, characteristics, design intent, Bill of Process, Bill of Material).
- Advance CAM and CAI capabilities to ensure toolpaths, inspection programs, and metrology workflows are driven directly from model‑based definitions.
- Enable virtual builds, process simulations, manufacturability assessments, and digital validation of production readiness.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Digital Technology, Architecture, and other enterprise teams to define integrated architectures, data standards, and system interfaces.
- Drive the development of architecture, methods, and standard work with agile software development handoff to the deployment team driving adoption across multiple P&W sites.
- Establish and report metrics for throughput, digital process coverage, cycle‑time reductions, and factory readiness impacts.
- Lead and develop a team of engineers, developers, and specialists responsible for model‑based capabilities and digital manufacturing solutions.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience.
- 7+ years of experience implementing or managing CAD, PLM, MES, ERP, CAM, or CAI systems in complex manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of design, machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, metrology, and inspection processes.
- Strong understanding of engineering‑to‑manufacturing data flows (MBD, PMI/GDT, BOM/BOP, process planning).
- Experience leading roadmaps, Agile/PI planning, or product‑oriented delivery approaches.
- Proven ability to architect integrated digital solutions across engineering and operations.
- Ability to work onsite full‑time and travel 25–50% to support deployment, training, and factory integration.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, industrial manufacturing, robotics, or similar highly regulated environments.
- Experience in manufacturing, quality, or industrial engineering in a direct shop/production support role.
- Hands‑on experience with PLM‑enabled process engineering, digital twins, or model‑based manufacturing workflows.
- Familiarity with model‑based inspection, CMM programming, and advanced metrology systems.
- Background in systems engineering, architecture, operations engineering, digital transformation, or Industry
4.0 initiatives. - Demonstrated success driving change across multi‑site organizations.
- Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) match.
