Mechanical Controls Hardware Systems Engineer

What You Will Do:
The Control System Engineering & Electrification (CSEE) organization is seeking a Mechanical Controls Hardware Systems Engineer with strong technical, communication and teamwork skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, integrating and certifying Lubrication, Air/Pneumatic, and Thermal Management (LAT) and Fuel & Actuation (F&A) jet turbine engine control subsystems and hardware. CSEE engineering work the entire system life cycle from
1) control system technology development,
2) interpreting customer requirements, decomposing them to hardware and software,
3) technical and project oversight of hardware implementation, to
4) ensuring control system compliance across engine, flight and customer compliance testing, and finally,
5) leading system and hardware field issue triage and resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain controls hardware specifications/requirements/deviations
- Responsible for technical resolution of supplier compliance gaps
- Part of quorum for Supplier Technical Reviews
- Support Development Validation Testing (DVT) issue resolution
- Hardware development engine test readiness
- Hardware item component Cert/Qualification (36-point Checklist) (Plans, Reports)
- Support Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead on engineering changes for controls components
- Tracking field issues
- Support field issue component root cause and alignment of corrective action
- Diving on detailed investigations to determine field failures contributors by engaging with Diagnostics and Prognostics for Health Management (DPHM), Customer Technical Support (CTS) and Subject Matter Experts (SME)
- Processing available field data to support Root Cause Analysis
- Developing tools for large data processing
- Support component supplier investigations, corrective actions definition and on-time execution
- Reporting status, progress, risks on ongoing component redesign projects
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 5 years of engineering experience or 3 years with an advanced degree
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience working with suppliers
- Experience with gas turbine engine operation, design, and familiarity with engine hardware and function.
- Ability to work on a cross-functional team
- Systems Engineering experience and familiarity with Requirements Management tools such as DOORS
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, or similar analytical tools
- Ability to communicate at all levels (customers/peers/executives)
- Basic understanding of software logic
- Experience supporting Aerospace Development and Sustainment Programs
- Familiarity with Control Systems Hardware, especially LAT and F&A such as pumps, valves, hydraulic actuators, solenoids and sensors
- Experience with the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) process to mature new technologies for future engine programs
- Experience with the Production Configuration Management process to ensure that the designed product is approved, certified and safe to operate.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Due to the high demand for engineering support of US Government classified programs, an active Government Security Clearance is highly preferred
- Broad understanding of aircraft engine power cycle
