Job Overview
Pratt & Whitney is seeking an experienced Engineer to support rotors design within the Military Development Fan/LPC Design team. The role provides an opportunity to lead designs, engage with multi‑disciplinary teams, and drive improvements throughout the production ramp and production build phase.
Responsibilities- Support program through final validation tests/assy, production ramp, and production build phase.
- Provide assembly/test support for I assemblies during final validation and initial production builds.
- Address inquiries from assembly team, QNs, and investigate failure malfunction reports.
- Identify areas to expand tolerances, improve part producibility, support manufacturing with vendors, and execute engineering changes.
- Execute Class II, Must Conform, and Production Alteration engineering changes.
- Execute First Piece Reviews on rotor hardware.
- Model IBRs and create sector files to support aero and structures analysis of life, QNs, and redesign proposals.
- Support production and dev quality notifications: create PPT packages, execute non‑conformance analysis, determine acceptability, disposition, documentation, and QN closure.
- B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- 5+ years of mechanical design engineering experience.
- Experience with rotor hardware, reading blueprints, and manufacturing methods.
- U.S. citizenship (Naturalized or dual citizens may apply with Program Office approval).
- M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with engineering standard work.
- Experience with engineering change processes (Class II, Must Conform, etc).
- Proficiency in Teamcenter, NX, Tol Stacking, and Blueprints.
- Quality notification support experience & SAP proficiency.
- Experience with Fan/LPC, HPC Rotor, or I Design.
- Experience with PROD QN support.
Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, parent‑leave, paid time off and holidays. Additional benefits depend on the business unit and union status.
