What You Will DoPratt & Whitney (P&W) is seeking a SMS Standardization Lead under the Enterprise SMS Program Office in East Hartford, CT. This position will be responsible for leading the standardization efforts across P&W's enterprise-wide SMS, and leading other initiatives aimed at advancing P&W's SMS processes and safety culture.
- Candidate must be a strong communicator, work well in dynamic cross-functional teams, and have a strong passion for improving culture and product safety.
- Lead P&W standardization efforts across the Enterprise SMS, including design, manufacture, and aftermarket operations.
- Engages P&W's 14 CFR Part 145 sites on ensuring compliance and standardization of SMS across locations, consistent with the objectives of the P&W Enterprise SMS.
- Engages P&W partners to ensure consortium compliance to applicable US and international SMS regulations, and consistent with company-specific SMS processes.
- Interfaces with regulatory agencies to demonstrate compliance.
- Supports P&W internal audit processes to ensure robust integration of SMS requirements.
- Conducts SMS focus groups and similar information gathering sessions to ensure robust integration of SMS across the enterprise, and adoption of positive safety culture principles.
- Assists in employee reporting process and human factors discipline maturity, as necessary.
- Demonstrate and articulate SMS adoption and standardization efforts to SMS Leadership.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Air Transportation Management, Aerospace Science, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in Aerospace or 7+ years with an Advanced Degree
- Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
- Strong understanding of SMS principles and ability to communicate these principles to broad audiences.
- Demonstrated skill in leading cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills and experience articulating vision and strategy at senior leadership level.
- Familiarity with Engineering, Quality, and Operations organizations and/or processes with background working with safety data, within a SMS framework
- Skilled working with Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and information systems.
- Experience in using CORE tools, or similar, for continuous process improvement.
