Position:
Electrical Engineer
Location:
Hartford, CT – 400 Main St, BLDG J
- Interface with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement test facility electrical control and data systems for development and production test programs.
- Collaborate with customers, including external parties, to understand and define their requirements.
- Propose and implement cost‑effective solutions from concept through design, fabrication, checkout, and system turnover, considering feasibility, safety, environmental impact, and adherence to industry standards.
- Identify improvements to Engineering Standard Work during assignment execution.
- Contribute to the development of goals for the electrical discipline.
- Frequent interfacing with Engine Project Groups, Purchasing, and outside vendors.
- Collaborate with capital project managers, and lead high and medium power electrical design for new construction/renovation of site facilities.
- Write request for proposal documents in support of capital procurement.
- Oversee vendors and ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Provide planning, design, integration, and implementation of power distribution on site.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer; mentor and review work of lower‑level professionals.
- Review and approve project and construction drawings to ensure capture of codes and standards (NEC, local jurisdiction codes).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, Power Transmission or Power Distribution Engineering.
- 5 years of electrical engineering experience, or an Advanced Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering with 3 years of related experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance (DoD Secret).
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Knowledge and awareness of electrical relay logic design, motor control center design, power and control wiring distribution.
- Understanding of pressures, temperatures, fluid process control and their relation to the mechanical environment.
- Experience using AutoCAD to design electrical schematics or wiring diagrams.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Knowledge of compliance codes such as NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 70E, OSHA 510.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing tools such as Six Sigma, Agile, or CORE.
- Experience with MFA (Manufacturing Facility Automation) processes.
