Responsibilities
Senior Principal Engineer – Military Engines Airworthiness Office. Serve as the primary advocate for airworthiness execution across multiple programs, coordinating with U.S. Government customers to achieve Military Flight Release or Military Type Certificate for new programs, component improvement programs, and engineering changes. Lead Integrated Product Team (IPT), Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT), and System Integrated Product Team (SIPT) planning for Airworthiness;
recommend certification bases; ensure alignment between stakeholders in Airworthiness, Validation & Verification, Safety, and Requirements Management processes. Ensure timely submission of airworthiness deliverables and clear communication of risk and mitigations. Author drafts of Airworthiness Plans and Certification Bases in conjunction with CIPTs per customer direction. Negotiate resolution of internal conflict regarding airworthiness plans, certification bases, compliance, and risk. Represent the Airworthiness function in IPT/CIPT/SIPT meetings, participate in implementation of model‑based engineering systems, develop and administer airworthiness processes and standard work tools, and mentor junior members of the Airworthiness Office and IPT/CIPT teams.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent STEM field.
- 10+ years of experience in military airworthiness and/or civil certification, engineering, and/or requirements management; or an advanced degree with 7+ years of experience in the same areas.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance (existing active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one).
- Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering.
- Experience working with gas turbine engine subsystems and familiarity with their architecture, performance, validation, and analysis.
- Familiarity with MIL‑HDBK‑516 and related U.S. government/industry publications, and execution of core airworthiness deliverables.
- Experience interfacing with U.S. Government customers regarding challenging program deliverables and risk negotiation.
- Strong communication, leadership, influence, and coordination skills across teams on strategic projects.
- Experience executing Agile project management concepts.
Salary range: 132,400 USD – 251,600 USD.

This role requires a U.S. government‑issued security clearance. U.S. citizenship is mandatory, and an existing active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.
