Job Summary
Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Military Engines Airworthiness Office to serve as the primary advocate for airworthiness execution on multiple programs. The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance, including a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities- Serve as the primary airworthiness advisor to Integrally Product Teams (IPT), Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPT), and System Integrated Product Teams (SIPT) for multiple military engine programs.
- Participate in IPT, CIPT, and SIPT planning for airworthiness, recommend certification bases, and ensure alignment between stakeholders in Airworthiness, Verification & Verification (V&V), Safety, and Requirements Management processes.
- Develop advance plans of compliance and communicate risk and mitigations to stakeholders.
- Coordinate regularly with U.S. Government customers to achieve Military Flight Release (MFR) or Military Type Certificate (MTC) for new programs, Component Improvement Programs, and engineering changes.
- Author drafts of the Airworthiness Plan and Certification Basis in conjunction with CIPTs, per customer direction.
- Negotiate resolution of internal conflicts regarding airworthiness plans, certification bases, compliance, and risk.
- Represent the airworthiness function in IPT/CIPT/SIPT meetings.
- Participate in the implementation of airworthiness elements of model‑based engineering systems.
- Assist in the administration of airworthiness processes and standard work tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent STEM field.
- 8+ years of experience in military airworthiness and/or civil certification and/or engineering & requirements management, or an advanced degree with 5+ years of equivalent experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret).
- U.S. citizenship.
- Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering.
- Experience with one or more gas turbine engine subsystems and familiarity with their architecture, performance, validation, and analysis.
- Familiarity with MIL‑HDBK‑516 and related U.S. government/industry publications, and execution of core airworthiness deliverables.
- Experience interfacing with U.S. Government customers regarding challenging program deliverables and risk negotiation.
- Strong communication, leadership, influence, and coordination skills across teams in strategic projects and initiatives.
- Experience executing Agile project management concepts.
- Salary range: 107,500 USD – 204,500 USD.
