OverviewPratt & Whitney, a world leader in aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems, is seeking an Associate Director, Electrical Controls Hardware Product Center (EC H/W PC Manager) to lead a critical subdiscipline group within the Controls & Diagnostics Systems (CDS) organization.
Responsibilities- Lead the design, development, validation, and production support of Full Authority Digital Electronic Controls (FADEC), sensors, effectors, harnesses, electrical subsystems, and other electrical components.
- Apply deep systems and project management expertise to define and meet platform level metrics for electrical system architecture, cost, reliability, performance, and weight.
- Develop physics‑based electrical system models, review functional requirements, and validate that hardware and software are properly built, integrated, and tested across engine, flight, and customer environments.
- Monitor component reliability, life‑cycle cost, and maintain a multi‑program lessons‑learned database to guide future subsystem and part design.
- Supervise a team of electrical engineers, coordinate critical skill systems engineers, provide technical leadership to less experienced staff, and manage resources within budget.
- Communicate project status, risks, and design review outcomes to Engineering Leadership and support successful execution of major design reviews.
- Engage in industry committees and associations in coordination with P&W Control & Diagnostic Systems discipline leadership.
- Maintain a secure working relationship with Collins Power and Controls FADEC and Electrical Systems provider.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
- 12 years of engineering experience, or an advanced degree with 10 years of prior engineering experience.
- U.S. citizenship and a DoD Secret security clearance (active and existing security clearance required after day1).
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering.
- Strong analytical skills to solve complex engineering problems.
- Track record of delivering results within cross‑discipline teams.
- Expertise in feedback control, model predictive control, and real‑time optimization.
- Experience with transient engine operation, engine performance, and model‑based systems engineering.
- Proficiency in real‑time modeling of engine dynamics and engine health estimation (digital twin).
- Knowledge of physics‑based modeling of turbo‑machinery components, estimation algorithms, uncertainty modeling, and statistical analysis.
- Experience implementing and simulating models in MATLAB/Simulink.
- Deep management and leadership experience leading cross‑department project teams.
Salary range:$157,200–$298,800 per year (depending on experience). Relocation assistance is available for qualifying candidates.
