Senior Additive Manufacturing Process Engineer – Onsite
Location: 411 Silver Ln, Hartford, CT (RTRC H) – United States of America.
Security Clearance: U.S. citizenship required for a DoD Secret Level clearance (active and existing required after day
1).
The Additive Manufacturing Process and Capability Center (AMPCC) engages a team of experts to research, develop, and deploy additive manufacturing tools and processes for RTX’s business units. In this role you will lead projects that advance industrialization of AM across the organization, developing processes, standards, and tools that enable advanced aerospace and defense products.
Responsibilities- Develop advanced process parameters to enable complex geometries with enhanced material properties.
- Investigate sources of machine variability and develop methods to eliminate observed variability.
- Execute and oversee development builds on various Additive Manufacturing machines.
- Collaborate with internal and external groups to develop whitepapers, project concepts, and responsive proposals.
- Explore the capabilities of advanced tools and equipment to characterize machines and process space.
- Develop machine installation, machine operation, and part qualification processes and standards.
- Work with RTX Business Units to understand and address their needs.
- Lead projects to advance the industrialization of AM at RTX.
Candidate should possess strong engineering principles and hands‑on experience with laboratory equipment. Must work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team focusing on innovation and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred QualificationsPhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical field; a minimum 3.5 GPA is desirable.
Education & Experience- University Engineering Degree or equivalent and at least 5 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced Degree with at least 3 years experience.
- Experience with Additive Manufacturing tools and processes.
- Scripting experience with MATLAB, Python, VBA, JavaScript or similar.
- Hands‑on experience with metal laser powder‑bed‑fusion AM equipment.
- Basic understanding of low‑voltage sensors and control systems.
The position is classified as Onsite. Employees will work primarily onsite at the Hartford location and may commute as required.
SalarySalary range: $86,800 – $165,200 USD.
