The Additive Manufacturing Process and Capability Center (AMPCC) encompasses a critical mass of Additive Manufacturing (AM) process and industrialization experts, the necessary equipment, and develops the strategic collaborations needed to rapidly mature the technology and manufacturing readiness of AM. The AMPCC is focused on the research, development, and deployment of additive manufacturing tools and processes for our business units.
What You Will Do
- Support RTX Business Units by providing design and FEA expertise to increase the rate of additive adoption
- Development, demonstration, and documentation of design methodologies and tools for additive manufacturing including conventional CAD and implicit modeling-based approaches
- Definition of automated AM software tools and methodologies for interconnection of individual tools into a unified toolchain capable of operating on large, component-level scales
- Topology Optimization for generation of geometries enabled by additive manufacturing across structural, thermal, or hydrodynamic domains
- Execution of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) projects to support business unit adoption of additively manufactured components and systems
- Establish relationships with government, industry, academic, and RTX Business Units and lead development of whitepapers, project concepts, and responsive proposals
- Management of multiple design, development, and demonstration projects
- Summarize and communicate results of key programs to upper management
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a University Engineering Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
- Minimum 5 years CAD user (Siemens NX preferred) for mechanical design and product engineering
- Experience with finite element analysis (e.g. Ansys, Abaqus, COMSOL)
- Minimum 2 years scripting experience with CAD tools, Matlab, Python, VBA, JavaScript or similar
- Minimum 1 year experience with implicit modeling tools such as nTop including development of custom blocks
Qualifications We Prefer
- Preferred candidates for this position will have an MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
- Working understanding of AM processes including laser powder bed fusion

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
