Location

This position will be based onsite, but can be located at any of the following locations;
East Hartford or Middletown CT;
Columbus, GA; or Asheville, NC.

What You Will Do
  • Execute a global people safety strategy across the organization in coordination with operations, engineering, and other stakeholders for our key safety programs.
  • Lead key safety programs at the global level which may include machine guarding, robotics, contractor safety management, emergency preparedness, confined space, etc.
  • Execute initiatives, programs, reports, and training across multiple EH&S disciplines, as required to achieve and maintain compliance.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to influence the business to drive improved metrics across defined safety goals and project targets.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with site EH&S professionals and other functions globally to drive improved safety performance.
  • Assist with identifying and implementing projects that utilize data trends to drive improvements.
  • Coordinate and participate in the safety cultural transformation of our factories through shared collaboration, identify and implement best practices, and encourage and facilitate knowledge transfer.
  • Be actively at the forefront of our customers’ goals, new EH&S legislation, and new safety technologies.
  • Coordinate data analytics and reporting of safety metrics and data trending.
  • Work closely with sites on a global level regarding activities and projects necessary to attain safety goals.
  • Onsite support as needed by internal customers.
  • Mentoring safety professionals and cross training with other safety professionals and communicating updates to safety training material across the organization.
  • Remaining current with all regulatory, operational, and technical matters relative to safety management and safety training programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the parent organization, RTX, to ensure alignment and direction of various programs and initiatives.
  • Up to 25% travel (site support on programs and initiatives).
Qualifications You Must Have
  • BS degree in Health & Safety or related technical discipline and minimum 10 years overall EH&S experience. Or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite products required to deliver data analysis, PowerPoint presentations for executive councils, Safety Performance Report (SPR), and monthly report to president etc.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Strong leadership, organization and project management skills. Able to perform/lead a variety of tasks, planned and unplanned, with an exceptionally high level of quality to meet target dates. Bias towards a hands-on approach; ability to operate in a matrixed corporate and manufacturing environment; comfortable engaging across the organization, from front-line to executive leadership; ability to use influence to drive results.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment by facilitating one-company collaboration among P&W major business units.
