The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch Information Technology Division is seeking a Temporary Information Technology Assistant (Information Technology Business Analyst) for a 12-month term in its Application Development and Support Unit, with a primary focus on business analysis and testing.
Position ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will be primarily responsible for executing junior-level Business Analyst, technical documentation and testing tasks. This role encompasses the creation of technical documentation, testing, and being able to thoroughly document technical bugs.
Business Analysis:
- Gather and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand workflows and system dependencies.
- Translate business needs into user stories and functional specifications.
Technical Writing and Specification Documentation:
- Review project requirements and translate them into detailed technical specifications for developers.
- Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements. Develop user stories, process flows, and system diagrams to support technical teams.
- Review and edit requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to new processes, functionalities, and/or proposed solutions
Testing and Bug Documentation:
- Contributes to the creation or enhancement of test plans and test case documentation.
- Identify, isolate, and document bugs clearly using bug tracking tools (e.g., Azure Dev Ops).
- Provide detailed reproduction steps, expected vs. actual results, and screenshots or logs.
- Collaborate with developers and business analysts to clarify issues and assist in root cause analysis.
- Retest fixes and new features and update the status of task with adequate notes.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of business analysis principles and SDLC.
- Familiarity with manual and automated testing methodologies.
- Experience in IT or actively pursuing an IT-related degree.
- Self-starter who can operate independently and take ownership
Successful candidates will receive $16.94 per hour plus sick time and will be potentially eligible for health benefits.
