The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch Information Technology Division is seeking a Temporary Information Technology Assistant for a 12-month term in its Cybersecurity Unit, with a primary focus on documentation, compliance, and project coordination.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESThe selected intern will support the Cybersecurity Unit with security, compliance, and operational initiatives across the Judicial Branch, with a strong focus on Microsoft 365 security and collaboration platforms, custom dashboards and reporting
. This internship is designed to provide hands‑on experience with real-world cybersecurity operations, metrics tracking, and cloud productivity security controls.
Responsibilities include:
- Microsoft 365 Platform Support: Work with Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, One Drive, Teams, and Power Automate to help review configurations, generate reports, and support security and governance use cases.
- Security Dashboards & Reporting: Assist in designing and maintaining dashboards and reports that track cybersecurity metrics, compliance status, risk indicators, and operational KPIs using tools such as Microsoft 365 reports and related platforms.
- Compliance & Control Tracking: Support cybersecurity compliance efforts by helping track controls, evidence, and remediation tasks aligned with frameworks such as NIST 800-53 and CJIS. Assist with POA&M tracking and audit support artifacts.
- Automation & Workflow Assistance: Help develop and document basic automated workflows using Power Automate and related Microsoft 365 tools to improve security and operational processes.
- Technical Documentation: Assist in preparing and updating cybersecurity documentation, procedures, standards, and operational runbooks tied to Microsoft 365 and security processes.
This internship is ideal for candidates with an interest in cybersecurity analytics, dashboarding, and Microsoft 365 cloud technologies who want practical experience in security operations and compliance within a government environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSCandidates should have:
- Either relevant experience in information technology or be actively pursuing a degree in the field.
- Excellent writing and communication skills with the ability to create and edit technical documentation clearly and accurately.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to follow through on multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail and a collaborative approach to working with both technical and non‑technical staff.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team in a professional environment.
- A valid driver’s license in good standing and the ability to pass a background check.
Successful candidates will receive $16.94 per hour plus sick time and will be potentially eligible for health benefits.
