Position OverviewPratt & Whitney Global Digital Technology team is seeking a highly capable and hands‑on Senior Scrum Master to support and guide Agile teams and ART operations within a complex and rapidly changing environment. This hybrid role is located at our East Hartford, Connecticut campus, with remote consideration for qualified candidates outside of Connecticut.
Responsibilities- Serve as Scrum Master for multiple teams, ensuring consistent application of Scrum practices and other Agile principles.
- Schedule, plan, and facilitate all team ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews/Demos, Sprint Retrospectives, and PI Planning breakouts.
- Collaborate with Product Owners to ensure regular backlog refinement sessions and clear prioritization.
- Coach team members and POs in Agile values, Scrum principles, Lean‑Agile thinking, and continuous improvement.
- Assist with risk management, escalation pathways, and removal of organizational impediments.
- Track team capacity, maintain sustainable workloads, and ensure Sprint and PI commitments do not exceed team bandwidth.
- Monitor Agile health, delivery metrics, and team performance indicators; use data to guide improvements in flow, predictability, and value delivery.
- Ensure Jira data accuracy and maintain robust Confluence documentation for transparency, alignment, and collaboration.
- Promote a psychologically safe, open, and collaborative team environment.
- Drive continuous improvement within the teams, improving flow efficiency, reducing waste, and strengthening Agile maturity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related field and 10+ years of hands‑on Scrum Master experience.
- Advanced degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering, or related field and 7+ years of hands‑on Scrum Master experience.
- U.S. Citizenship (required).
- Scrum Master certification (SAI, Scrum Inc, CSM, PSM, SASM, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals from multiple levels of the organization.
- Proven history of driving improvements in velocity, predictability, or delivery efficiency.
- Strong facilitation skills across distributed, hybrid, and in‑person environments.
- High attention to detail and well‑developed organizational planning abilities.
- Adaptability and resilience when working in a complex environment with frequent changes.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence, including maintaining high‑quality data and documentation.
- Strong team collaboration, continuous improvement mindset, and ability to foster a safe, productive team environment.
- Willing to work Eastern Time hours if located outside the ET timezone.
- Experience forming new teams and guiding them into high‑performing stages.
- Coaching certifications such as ICP‑ATF, ICP‑ACC, ICP‑ATC, SPC, or similar.
- Engineering background or experience working closely with engineering teams, particularly where Agile must be applied to engineering disciplines.
- Prior experience supporting or leading ART‑level activities.
- Support the planning, design, and execution of SAFe Agile Framework components, including Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and Value Streams.
- Cross‑team alignment activities, including PI Planning, ART Syncs, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and dependency management processes.
- Collaborate with leadership, Product Management, System Architects, and Business Owners to ensure strategic alignment across teams.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives at the ART level, improving flow efficiency, reducing waste, and strengthening Agile maturity.
- Assist with risk management, escalation pathways, and removal of organizational impediments.
- Help shape new teams, including facilitating their journey from Forming to Performing.
- Bring Lean‑Agile thought leadership and ensure consistent application of SAFe principles across teams and stakeholders.
- Support or lead ART‑wide ceremonies, planning cycles, and operational readiness initiatives.
