About CCAT:

Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) is a manufacturing technology innovation and readiness center focused on helping manufacturers adopt advanced technologies and strengthen their operations. We work with companies across manufacturing and industrial supply chains to evaluate, implement, and integrate the adoption of digital, 3D printing and other critical technologies. By leveraging engineering expertise in model‑based definition, digital thread, and additive manufacturing along with technical evaluations, technology demonstrations, and hands‑on training, CCAT enables companies to accelerate technology adoption and upskill employees to improve productivity and profitability.

CCAT is a nonprofit, non‑traditional defense contractor and government fiduciary dedicated to advancing applied technologies and strengthening the U.S. industrial base. CCAT partners with federal and state agencies—including the DoD, DOE, NASA, SBA, and USDOC—through government‑funded and commercial programs that support both defense and commercial manufacturing.

IT Support & Security Technician II

Why This Role Matters:

The IT Support & Security Technician II performs daily IT support and routine security tasks working under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer and CCAT’s external service provider. This role combines routine end‑user technology and systems support activities with the potential for cybersecurity (NIST SP 800‑171, CMMC, DFARS) responsibilities. It is a hands‑on, blended role in a small, collaborative organization, combining help desk and desktop support with practical, supervised support of the security and compliance program.

Program direction and oversight of CCAT’s compliance posture rest with leadership and the external service provider.

How You’ll Make an Impact:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT-related questions from employees.
  • Perform day‑to‑day support within the secure enclave used to store and process Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), following established procedures.
  • Lead vulnerability management and remediation tasks.
  • Assist with routine security tooling tasks, such as responding to alerts and endpoint and account administration.
  • Own audit readiness including gathering, organizing, and producing information and evidence for internal security reviews, assessments, and audits.
  • Develop, maintain and enforce compliance and configuration documentation, such as system inventories, baselines, policies, and standard operating procedures, as directed by leadership and the external service provider.
  • Act as a primary liaison with the external service provider, vendors, and contractors on day‑to‑day tasks, assessment preparation, and maintenance of the information system.
  • Exercise independent judgment in analyzing technical issues, determining solutions, and prioritizing work based on organizational risk and impact.
  • Oversee the day‑to‑day technical support of end users for hardware, software, account, and connectivity issues, both in person and remotely.
  • Oversee diagnosis and resolution of hardware problems, coordinating repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Evaluate system updates and upgrades based on security risk, system impact, and operational needs.
  • Design and maintain workstation configurations, laptops, and peripheral equipment following standard build procedures.
  • Provision and deprovision user accounts, devices, and access as part of employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Coordinate with hardware, software, and service vendors on procurement, warranties, support cases, and license renewals.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and documentation of hardware, software, and licenses.
  • Analyze system availability, performance, and stability; respond to outages and report or elevate issues.
  • Prioritize and respond to service requests, seeing issues through to resolution and escalating when needed.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership on IT systems, security controls, and risk posture.
  • Independently evaluate system and security risks and determine appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Adhere to CCAT safety policies, procedures to maintain a safe and compliant work…
