Quality Engineering, Regulatory Compliance Specialist
2nd Shift Quality Engineer
This Quality Engineer position supports aerospace manufacturing operations in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. The role focuses on executing quality systems, managing nonconformances, and driving continuous improvement initiatives while partnering closely with cross-functional manufacturing teams. You will play a key role in ensuring product quality, leading root cause investigations, and supporting standardized processes across the shop floor.
Responsibilities:
- Execute First Article Inspections (FAI) to verify product conformity to specifications and standards.
- Support manufacturing operations by enforcing and maintaining adherence to established quality processes and procedures.
- Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations to identify underlying issues and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Facilitate problem resolution teams to address quality issues, drive consensus, and ensure timely closure of actions.
- Manage nonconformance processes, including documentation, disposition, corrective action tracking, and closure in accordance with quality system requirements.
- Review process plans, work instructions, and technical data to ensure compliance with standard work and applicable aerospace quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving turnaround time, and lowering overall cost of poor quality.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, customer support, and quality teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Apply data analysis techniques to monitor quality performance, identify trends, and support data-driven decision making.
- Support internal and external audits related to ISO/AS aerospace standards and repair station or MRO activities as needed.
Essential
Skills:
- Proven experience in quality engineering within aerospace manufacturing, military aviation maintenance, repair station, or MRO environments.
- Hands-on experience executing First Article Inspections (FAI) and ensuring product conformity.
- Strong background in root cause analysis and leading Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations.
- Working knowledge of ISO/AS aerospace quality standards, including ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9110 or equivalent aerospace standards.
- Experience supporting or participating in quality audits in a regulated aerospace environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage nonconformance processes, including documentation, corrective action tracking, and closure.
- Strong analytical skills and data-driven problem-solving capabilities, including data analysis for quality performance monitoring.
- Ability to interpret technical data, process plans, and standard work instructions.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration skills with operations, engineering, and quality teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead problem-solving teams and influence stakeholders in a production environment.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- Experience with ISO/AS9100 or AS9110 quality management systems.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Auditor certification related to quality systems or aerospace standards.
- Background in aerospace manufacturing or military aviation maintenance.
- Familiarity with repair station and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) operations.
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License is a plus.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment with a strong focus on quality and turnaround time.
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies and structured problem-solving frameworks.
- Interest in long-term growth within aerospace quality, including complex quality systems and regulated manufacturing environments.
Work Environment:
This role is based on an aerospace manufacturing shop floor supporting highly regulated production operations. The position operates in a union environment where Quality Engineers are responsible for inspection, analysis, and oversight of quality processes but do not physically modify products or perform hands-on mechanical work. You will work in a highly collaborative setting, partnering closely with operations, engineering, and quality teams to support production goals.
The environment is fast-paced and production-driven, with a strong emphasis on product quality, turnaround time, and continuous improvement. Processes are structured yet evolving, and you will work within standardized procedures while helping to improve and mature them through daily execution. The contract offers competitive benefits, including paid holidays, paid time off, and sick time, with a structure designed for potential long-term extension and career growth based on performance.
Your contributions will be visible from day one, and you will have the opportunity to build strong internal networks and expand your scope beyond a typical quality engineering role.
