Responsibilities
The CDS organization is seeking a highly motivated, team‑oriented, and results‑driven Principal Engineer to join the Engine System Software organization. The qualified candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing and/or leading software requirements and designs within the Agile Framework.
- Decomposing system level and customer interface requirements into software requirements and designs.
- Documenting traceability or rationale for derived requirements and designs.
- Conducting iterative prototype testing of requirements and designs.
- Performing reviews of requirements and designs.
- Participating in software planning, estimating and tracking.
- Producing software requirement and design specifications.
- Performing and/or leading software verification within the Agile Framework.
- Conducting regression analysis to determine verification scope.
- Developing/reviewing software test descriptions with traceability to software requirements.
- Developing and executing electronic bench test scripts.
- Evaluating/reviewing test results.
- Executing robustness testing.
- Executing low‑level module/object testing.
- Conducting Verification Reviews.
- Producing Verification Reports.
- Participating in and/or leading Agile ceremonies.
- Potential to serve as Agile Scrum Master, Product Owner, Product Manager, and/or part of the Development Team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
- 8 years of engineering experience, or an advanced degree and 5 years of experience.
- Solid track record of achieving results in a technical role.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, high‑pressure engineering environment.
- Prior experience developing software in an Agile framework.
- Prior safety‑critical software development experience.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards such as DO178B.
- Outstanding cross‑discipline communication skills.
- Familiarity with jet engine control and diagnostic system architectures and control logic design.
