About Pratt & Whitney Controls & Diagnostic Systems (CDS)

Pratt & Whitney Controls & Diagnostic Systems is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military and commercial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development and support, including requirements analysis, system & software architecture, algorithm design, product software design, verification & validation, and engine and flight test support.

The organization seeks a highly motivated, team‑oriented, results‑driven Senior Engineer to join the Engine System Software organization.

What You Will Do
  • Develop software requirements and designs within the Agile Framework – decompose system‑level and customer interface requirements into software requirements and designs, document traceability or rationale for derived requirements, conduct iterative prototype testing of requirements and designs, perform reviews of requirements and designs, and produce software requirement and design specifications.
  • Participate in software planning, estimating and tracking.
  • Conduct software verification – perform regression analysis to determine verification scope, develop and review software test descriptions with traceability to software requirements, develop and execute electronic bench test scripts, evaluate and review test results, execute robustness testing, conduct low‑level module/object testing, and produce verification reports.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and, potentially, serve as Agile Scrum Master and/or part of the Development Team.
What You Will Learn

As a member of a dynamic engineering organization, you will apply multidisciplinary engineering and leadership skills in developing and supporting complex engine control and diagnostic systems and software.

Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of engineering experience (or 3 years with an advanced degree).
  • Controls systems development and support experience.
  • Solid track record of achieving results in a technical role.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, high‑pressure engineering environment.
  • Prior experience developing software in an Agile framework.
  • Prior safety‑critical software development experience.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards such as DO178B.
  • Outstanding cross‑discipline communication skills.
  • Familiarity with jet engine control and diagnostic system architectures and control logic design.
