Health Partnerships Strategy

Position Summary

The Senior Director of Health Partnerships Strategy is a senior leadership role withinthe Office of Health Partnerships who is responsible for health-related strategy development, support and enhancement of high-value health partnerships in support of MSU’s Mission.

Reporting to the SVP for Health Partnerships, this role operates at the intersection of strategy, partnerships, and integration, serving as a key liaison between MSU Health Care, Henry Ford Health, and community partners. This role ensures strategic priorities, partnership initiatives, and market-level plans are aligned across organizations and advanced through appropriate governance pathways.

Key Responsibilities Enterprise & Market Strategy Development
  • Facilitate the development of health-related market and service line strategies across MSU Health Care.
  • Partner with academic chairs, physician leadership, and executives to develop integrated clinical, academic, research, and partnership strategies.
  • Design and facilitate cross-entity strategy retreats, market assessments, and planning sessions that drive shared priorities and actionable outcomes.
  • Develop or adapt processes to standardize intake, prioritization, and evaluation frameworks for partnership opportunities. Maintain and report on opportunities as needed or requested.
Henry Ford Health Alignment & Liaison
  • Serve as the primary strategy and partnership liaison between MSU Health Care and Henry Ford Health.
  • Ensure strategies and partnership initiatives are aligned with HFH enterprise priorities, resourcing models, and segmented strategy and business development functions.
  • Coordinate communication, planning, and approvals to support collaboration.
Partnership Development & Strategic Execution
  • In collaboration with college leadership, identify, structure, and advance health partnerships, including joint ventures, affiliations, clinical service agreements, and other partnerships across the healthcare industry spectrum.
  • Support contract negotiations and structure, ensuring alignment on economic, governance, compliance, and long-term strategic value.
  • In collaboration with leaders across the University, translate strategic concepts into executable initiatives and ensure readiness for launch and operational transition including change management.
Governance &Approval Management
  • Develop, deploy, and manage review and approval processes for joint initiatives requiring dual governance (MSU and Henry Ford).
  • Prepare and present materials for Joint Operating Committee (JOC), Strategic Direction Work groups, MSU Health Care Board, and other executive forums as necessary or as requested.
  • Ensure initiatives move efficiently through governance with clear decision rights and accountability.
  • Works with leadership to reduce fragmentation by defining ownership between strategy, partnerships, and operations.
Data-Driven Decision Support
  • Collaborate market analytics and other teams to develop and translate market intelligence, financial modeling, referral data, and performance metrics into strategic insights.
  • Track execution and outcomes using dashboards, balanced scorecards, quarterly reviews or other modalities.
Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Accounting, Management or field related to employing unit; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial or accounting practices, developing research projects, funding and grant practices and/or experience in a field related to the area of employment;

or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
