Position Summary:

Student Media and Engagement Assistant supports the College of Communication Arts and Sciences’ Access & Engagement initiatives, including Ignite the Future (ITF), through social media content creation, storytelling, and event support. The Student Assistant will primarily perform the following duties:

• Create and publish content for Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, and Linked In.
• Develop and maintain a social media content calendar.
• Create weekly social media posts, reels, stories, and other short-form content.
• Capture photos and videos at events and program activities.
• Engage with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners to identify content and storytelling opportunities.
• Support social media engagement and assist with communication campaigns.
• Design graphics and promotional materials using Canva.
• Assist with events and other communications-related projects as assigned.
• Enrolled as a student at Michigan State University during the academic year.
• Experience using social media platforms including Instagram, Tik Tok, and Facebook.
• Experience or demonstrated interest in creating inclusive, audience-centered content that reflects the diverse experiences of students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
• Proficiency with Canva and basic content creation tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and stay organized.

• Experience creating short-form video content (Tik Tok, Reels, Shorts).
• Knowledge of social media trends and audience engagement strategies.
• Photography, videography, or graphic design experience.
• Interest in communications, marketing, media, student engagement, or related fields.
• Demonstrated creativity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
