Fair Representative - Seasonal​/Part-Time - Lansing, MI Area

Overview

Under little supervision, Benefit Fair Representatives educate employees and encourage membership enrollment at VSP Vision Care client benefit fairs. They travel to VSP client locations or participate virtually during the open enrollment period to explain the VSP plan(s) offered by the company, answer questions, and assist members and potential members to determine what best meets their needs and the benefits of enrolling with VSP.

They interact with potential and existing VSP members directly (in a group setting or one-on-one), helping them understand the necessity of annual eye exams, plan options, and the value of VSP as their benefits provider. They provide visitors with plan information and answer questions about the plans offered, and refer members to Customer Service for issues that cannot be answered onsite.

They may give presentations on the VSP benefit and interact with Vision Care Marketing and Sales to confirm fair/plan details and with the client event contact to ensure materials arrive and representations meet expectations. They provide fair details and feedback electronically after the fair and assist in collecting and facilitating information or data as requested by VSP. They maintain inventory of materials necessary to represent VSP at fairs.

• Educate employees and encourage enrollment at benefit fairs, including virtual participation during open enrollment.
• Explain VSP plan options, answer questions, and help members determine plans that meet their needs.
• Interact with potential and existing members in group or one-on-one settings; emphasize the value of annual eye exams.
• Provide plan information, answer questions, and refer escalations to Customer Service as needed.
• Collaborate with Vision Care Marketing and Sales to confirm fair details and with the client event contact to ensure materials are accurate and on-site expectations are met.
• Deliver presentations on VSP benefits when required and coordinate presentation details with Vision Care Sales.
• Submit fair feedback and details electronically after events.
• Assist in collecting and facilitating information or data as requested by VSP.
• Maintain inventory of materials necessary to represent VSP at fairs.

• The insurance industry or human resources experience is ideal.
• Experience in customer service, HR/benefits, or health insurance preferred.
• Professional and friendly conduct with excellent organization, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
• Excellent communication skills with all levels of people within an organization.
• Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.
• Comfortable speaking to small groups and presenting to larger groups in person or virtually; adaptable to varying client needs.
• Access to personal cell phone and email; proficient with the internet; access to a personal webcam and audio for virtual events.
• Ability to set up and manage user account information on multiple online tools.
• Ability to provide valid proof of auto insurance and to plan travel and out-of-town accommodations as needed.
• Ability to lift 25 pounds; business attire required (VSP Polo shirt provided) unless directed otherwise.
• Ability to walk or stand for 90% of the day as needed at onsite events.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.
• Open weekday availability throughout the year, especially between September and November, with 5–25 fair assignments during peak times depending on location.
