Position Summary
The Community & Engagement Student Supervisor (Student Services Assistant II) for the MRULE-ICA Program is responsible for leading, educating, and supervising a team of diverse undergraduate student leaders called Intercultural Aides (ICAs) in the Multi-Racial Unity Living Experience-Intercultural Aide (MRULE-ICA) program within Residence Education & Housing Services in the pedagogy of building inclusive communities within the residence halls to promote institutional learning goals.
CharacteristicDuties & Responsibilities
- Educate and train undergraduate student staff in the pedagogy of building inclusive communities with a world embracing global perspectives that encompass institutional undergraduate learning goals:
Analytical Thinking, Cultural Understanding, Effective Citizenship, Effective Communication, and Integrative Reasoning. - Research interdisciplinary materials to design and produce relevant socio-political-cultural curriculum for weekly engaged learning seminars.
- Supervise undergraduate student staff to ensure student/professional development through monitoring student staff job performance, educating, advising, and mentoring student staff.
- Work collaboratively with other professional staff in the program to strategize initiatives that keep programmatic efforts relevant and responsive to the changing needs and environments of students.
- Work with other professional staff within the residence halls and other student support services to infuse and systematize intercultural competencies throughout various efforts, services, and programming for students.
- Assist with ongoing assessment and contribute to continuous improvement of practice.
- Engage in developing collaborative partnerships with other university colleagues to plan and implement other engaged learning opportunities.
- This position requires presence in the assigned neighborhood and on central campus for required meetings and other responsibilities.
Interacts with:
- Intercultural Aides (ICAs) – in order to effectively supervise and provide supportive coaching on individual job performance, to facilitate student leadership development in the context of the Intercultural Aide job and responsibilities
- Other MRULE-ICA program supervisors – in order to coordinate ICA programmatic efforts, problem solve, and share information about respective hall issues, individual ICA successes and concerns, and on-going assessment practices within the program
- Staff in Residence Life & Housing Services (REHS)- in order to communicate concerns and issues of individual students as well as student trends and inclusive residential climate concerns within the halls
- Students – in order to encourage their participation in various intercultural events, engaged learning opportunities, and use of student support resources
- Faculty – in order to develop and design meaningful global integrated learning opportunities for ICAs and other students
- Other community partners external to University – in order to cultivate and develop future community service projects and opportunities for students
The Supervisor will report to the co-directors of the MRULE-ICA Program.

Impact on Programs/Services/OperationsProgrammatic efforts and work produced by the ICAs and by the program’s professional staff seek to impact other students’ development of competencies encompassed in the institutional learning goals.

Minimum RequirementsKnowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Masters in a human services related field (eg.
