Special Education Teacher – EI Focus

Come join our team at Mac Donald Middle School! This position is for a Special Education Teacher with a focus on emotional impairments. The role is for 1.0 FTE and will be part of the 26/27 school year, starting on August 20, 2026. Reports to the building principal and the director of special education. Applications are due by June 24, 2026.

In alignment with the East Lansing Public School District's policies, the Special Education Teacher is responsible for instructing students with emotional impairments. The teacher will collaborate with paraprofessionals, families, volunteers, and staff to provide resources and support. The duties include delivering research-based interventions, maintaining data, and remaining current with strategies and interventions.

Education, knowledge, and skills required include a valid Michigan Teacher's Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education, three years of successful teaching experience with special education students, and demonstrated knowledge in literacy, mathematics, interventions, assessment, and behavior supports/management. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and frequent walking, sitting, pushing/pulling, bending, stooping, standing, and climbing is also required.
