4th Grade Teacher
Come join our team at Donley Elementary. This position is for a 4th grade teacher with a full-time teaching effort (1.0 FTE). The salary is per the ELEA contract, and the work year is for the 26/27 school year, starting on August 20, 2026. The position reports to the building principal, and the Final date to receive applications is July 22, 2026.
In alignment with the established policies and procedures of the East Lansing Public School District, the elementary school teacher is responsible for instructing students in multiple subject areas. As a member of the professional staff, the teacher provides leadership in the areas of instruction, curriculum development, classroom management, student relations, parent and community relations, and staff relations.
The role requires a high degree of knowledge in teaching at the elementary level and continuous improvement in competence. The teacher organizes learning activities to provide varied classroom activities that are congruent with educational goals and objectives. Sound principles of learning and motivation are applied in the planning, delivery, and assessment phases of instructional delivery. Technology is used as a tool within the classroom and as a management tool.
The teacher establishes healthy relationships with students and staff, modeling respect for and acceptance of all persons in the school setting. They also establish healthy relationships with families and the community, maintaining professional ethics and responsibilities including participation in the total school program, curriculum development, and building committees. The teacher displays commitment to the district's school improvement process, school-based governance system, and curriculum development efforts, demonstrating experience working with a diverse student population and promoting diversity through their practices.
Valid Michigan certification in Elementary Education with an Upper Elementary (ZP) or K-5 (ZG) endorsement preferred, with a strong emphasis in reading/literacy.
