Ast Prof-Fixed Term
The Department of History at Michigan State University invites applications for a pool of qualified fixed-term Assistant Professors to teach one or more undergraduate or graduate-level courses per semester. These positions could be part-time or full time, and vary by semester, depending on the needs of the Department. It is possible that no positions are needed in some semesters. Applicants in this pool are reviewed when the Department has immediate needs and positions would begin as early as January 1, 2027.
Courses would be offered during the regular academic year (AY) when available. Candidates must be qualified to teach in at least ONE of the following fields:
- United States History
- Latin American History
- Asian History
- European History
- African History

Doctorate – History in US, Latin America, Asia, Europe or Africa
A Ph.D. or equivalent degree required by date of hire. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and/or significant work experience in one of the following fields: U.S. History, Latin American History, African History, Asian History, or European History.
