Assistant Professor-Tenure System

Position Summary

The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applicants for an Assistant Professor tenure-system faculty position within the College of Communication Arts and Sciences (Com Art Sci ). We seek scholars whose research, teaching, outreach, and/or service will further enhance the national and international excellence of CSD, Com Art Sci , and MSU with an emphasis on supporting the 2030 MSU Strategic Plan ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).

The Department of CSD seeks an individual committed to developing an outstanding program of research and demonstrating excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service. All areas of research specialization will be considered, but the following areas are of particular interest: augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), child language disorders, stuttering, voice and voice disorders, aphasia, and cognitive aspects of communication.

The start date for this position is August 2027.

Please note that this is a union position represented by the Union of Tenure System Faculty (UTSF). The university is working with the union to establish a collective bargaining agreement.

All applicants will be asked to sign an authorization and release, which authorizes the University to contact the candidate’s current and former employers, for a period of 7 years prior to the date of application, related to any pending investigations, findings of responsibility and/or sanctions related to professional misconduct. Nothing will be sent to current or former employers unless the candidate reaches the semi-finalist stage.

The existence of professional misconduct history does not automatically exclude a candidate from employment. The University will assess the history, including any information provided by the candidate, in determining whether it is compatible with the position. The University may decline to hire a candidate based on the professional misconduct review. All records obtained from external employers will be kept in a secure location, separate from personnel files.

If an applicant fails to sign the authorization and release, the application will be deemed incomplete and will be withdrawn.

Terminal
