Learning and Development Assistant (Student Info Tech Assistant I)

We are seeking a highly motivated student who is dedicated to learning to join our training team! The main responsibilities include assisting in creating and updating educational materials for instructor-led training, micro-learning, and eLearning content. Other duties include organizing classes, creating marketing materials, and handling administrative tasks. Please note that this position is focused on training/L&D, not IT.

Position Summary:

The IT Training Team distinguishes itself from a conventional IT department by focusing primarily on Learning and Development Initiatives. Our core mission is to curate and deliver training content tailored for the broader campus community. While we operate within the IT department, our functions do not encompass traditional IT responsibilities. Our team possesses a strong commitment to advancing Learning and Development.

Reporting to the Training Manager, the Learning and Development Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Supporting the delivery of live, online training sessions led by the IT Training Team by helping coordinate and manage the virtual classroom experience.
  • Producing and editing short training videos using tools like Camtasia, Vyond, and Media Space. Creating clear, engaging materials to support and advance knowledge using design platforms such as Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Reviewing training materials to ensure they stay current, are clear, and effective, making improvements as needed.
  • Collecting and organizing training data and records to support reporting and documentation efforts.
  • Procuring resources for and assisting in the management/upkeep of the team’s website

The minimum requirements for this position are as follows:

  • The candidate must be a current student at MSU.
  • Previous work experience in learning and development is required.
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts to create content and training materials is necessary.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 is essential.
  • The position requires working 20 hours per week, with a minimum of 4-hour shifts.
  • Work hours are Monday to Friday, between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM.

Additionally, the individual should be detail-oriented, intrinsically motivated, and organized and possess strong writing and editing skills.

Desired

Qualifications:

The desired skills include the ability to apply learning and design principles, maintain a positive mindset, and foster creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in video editing software, such as Vyond, and familiarity with tools like Power BI, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Canva are also preferred.
