Position Summary
The new Accountant I position will handle budgetary and accounting needs for MSU Police and Public Safety. The position will oversee department accountants, day‑to‑day processing for financial transactions, and maintain budgetary tracking of salaries and operating expenses for the current fiscal year while forecasting future fiscal needs as assigned. It includes overseeing payroll functions, ensuring accuracy in processing, managing departmental purchases and vendor invoicing, and handling internal documents for parking code services.
The role also involves monitoring accounts for issues and making corrections throughout the fiscal year to meet budgetary benchmarks.
Knowledge equivalent to that normally acquired by completing a four‑year college degree program in Accounting; one to three years of related, progressively responsible or expansive work experience in financial statement and report preparation, general ledger accounting and budgeting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
