Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community located in the backyard of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. The IT System Administrator will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and support of the enterprise technology and networking infrastructure, ensuring reliability, availability, and security of servers, workstations, Microsoft 365 services, networking systems, cloud platforms, endpoint devices, and business‑critical applications supporting clinical and administrative operations.
The Administrator provides technical support, manages day‑to‑day IT operations, assists with cybersecurity initiatives, and works closely with the IT Manager (HIPAA Security Officer) to maintain compliance with HIPAA Security Rule requirements and organizational security standards. The role includes on‑call support, disaster recovery, business continuity, technology projects, and infrastructure improvements for a 24/7 healthcare environment.
- Administer Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory services.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop and laptop computers.
- Manage DHCP scope.
- Deploy and maintain Windows and macOS devices.
- Manage endpoint security platforms including Sophos Central.
- Manage encryption (Bitlocker/File Vault).
- Use Automox for operating system and third‑party application patch management.
- Support Cisco Meraki switching, wireless, firewalls, and VPN infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues.
- Create, modify, and disable user accounts.
- Manage Active Directory and Microsoft Entra .
- Maintain role‑based access controls.
- Support secure onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Implement cybersecurity best practices.
- Apply security patches.
- Respond to security incidents.
- Verify successful backups.
- Perform file and system restorations.
- Identify performance issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance.
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience and/or industry certifications accepted.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in IT support or systems administration required.
