Maintenance Tech

Overview

Maintenance Tech role at Burcham Hills Foundation — an upscale senior living retirement community located in East Lansing, MI.

We currently have full-time shifts available. The Maintenance Tech will provide general maintenance throughout the building/community and assist with a variety of duties as described below.

• Work with appropriate staff to recommend or plan repairs, improvements, etc. for maintenance-related areas.
• HVAC unit preventative maintenance and repair
• Plumbing repairs – including fixing toilets, sinks, and drains
• Electrical repairs – including changing overhead fluorescent lighting, TV/VCR installations, and checking electrical outlets
• Move or repair furniture and other items as requested
• Grounds work (sweeping, shoveling, loading bags of salt, salting, weeding, picking up items around the grounds)
• Painting/renovation (installing/removing equipment and related tasks)
• Janitorial/floor care, using floor scrubber, broom, vacuum, etc.

• Has a current Type 1 (or greater) refrigeration certificate is preferred
• Experience with general maintenance functions
• Ability to communicate tactfully with team members, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public
• Ability to work in a multi-faceted role and independently to ensure maintenance repairs are resolved safely
• Ability to work 8-hour shifts and extended or flexible hours as needed
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English effectively
