Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community located in the backyard of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. We currently have vacancy for a Director of Maintenance and Environmental Services to work a Full Time schedule. In this position a Director of Maintenance and Environmental Services will be responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance operations within the community.

This leadership role ensures compliance with safety standards, including CMS, State, Federal and OSHA regulations, and promotes a safe, clean environment for staff, residents, and visitors. The ideal candidate must have experience in Maintenance and Environmental Services management in a healthcare setting. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead a team effectively and in addition to but not limited to the following duties:

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction projects, building maintenance, fire, safety and security.
• Serve on committees for leadership, safety, and other relevant programs.
• Oversee scheduling for maintenance and environmental services coverage and necessary projects.
• Oversee budget and ensure expenditures are within budget guidelines.
• Develop and implement cleaning and maintenance protocols aligned with OSHA standards and facility policies.
• Supervise daily environmental services operations, ensuring high standards of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained across all areas.
• Manage housekeeping/laundry staff, assign duties, monitor performance, and provide ongoing training in cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and environmental compliance.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with sanitation standards and safety regulations.
• Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities and compliance reports.
• Lead efforts in emergency response situations related to environmental hazards or sanitation issues.

Experience

• Proven experience in maintenance/environmental services management within healthcare or similar settings.
• Extensive maintenance or custodial experience with a focus in healthcare environments preferred.
• Extensive training in OSHA standards, emergency response and preventative maintenance functions.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience managing teams is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning chemicals used in healthcare facilities.
